A recent event hosted by the chancellor and president recognized the university’s faculty and staff, celebrating TCU through the decades. Two of TCU’s longest-serving faculty shared their memories and thoughts via video.
Jim Riddlesperger, political science professor, has been at TCU 42 years.
“The end of the first year of my time at TCU, the political science department had enough money left over in its budget to buy a brand-new IBM self-correcting selectric typewriter for me, which was a huge advance in terms of technology,” he said.
Sally Fortenberry, professor of fashion merchandising, has served at TCU for 35 years and recalled the difference in fashion on campus in the 1980s.
“Everybody dressed up. Even the students dressed up. Faculty, staff – it was impressive,” she said.
